Welcome to Luda Retouching Services, specializing in the restoration of family photographs and archival imagery—preserving history with care and precision.

How it began

I started working as a photographer and retoucher in 2005. At that time, I worked in a photo studio, and the era of digital photography was just beginning. Clients would bring in old photos that we digitized and then retouched using early versions of Photoshop. I was just starting out—it was Photoshop CS2—and complex retouching seemed very difficult to me. But gradually, I worked on more and more images.

Later, I moved into wedding photography, and my first digital camera was a Konica Minolta. Since then, digital cameras have advanced to an incredible level compared to those early models, as have retouching tools. Nevertheless, the human being still remains the key factor in achieving high-quality restoration retouching.

How it works

You send me a message along with your high-resolution digitized photo and all the details needed to proceed with the retouching, including whether you would like restoration only or restoration with colorization. I then provide you with a quote.

I carefully preserve the authenticity of each image, as many authentic details of your photo as possible, because it is real—it is history, not an invention like AI-generated imagery.

Scanning Guidelines for Photo Restoration

  • Minimum resolution: 300 dpi
  • Recommended resolution: 600 dpi
  • For small, old, or damaged photos: 1200 dpi or higher
  • Scan in color, even for black & white photos (captures more detail)
  • File formats: TIFF (preferred) or high-quality JPEG
  • Avoid compression and scanner filters (no auto-enhancement)
  • Do not crop too tightly — keep edges if possible
  • Make sure the photo is clean (dust can affect the scan)
  • Avoid taking photos with a phone — a flatbed scanner gives much better results
  • Scan at the original size or larger (do not downscale)
